ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY: GREEN SEA TURTLES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
THE FIRST ANNUAL WEST COAST SEA TURTLE SYMPOSIUM IS COMING TO THE AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA ON OCTOBER 19TH & 20TH, 2022! ATTENDANCE IS LIMITED TO 100 PARTICIPANTS, PLEASE REGISTER NOW IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND WORKSHOPS, PRESENTATIONS, OR THE KEYNOTE ADDRESS!
The meeting will be celebrating the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) in southern California. From near-extinction in the late 1960s to popping up throughout nearshore waters from Mexico to Santa Barbara in recent years, our resident green sea turtles are making a historic comeback due to successful management and protections in Mexico and the United States.
The first day of the Symposium will feature a series of participatory workshops focused on key conservation themes relating to green turtles. The second day of the Symposium will include oral presentations and posters focused on current sea turtle research and conservation in our region. The Symposium will culminate with a keynote address, which will also be open to members of the public.
